How can AA Members Stop13 Stepping, Sexual Harassment, Battery, Rape & other Violence in Meetings?

Speak up and Speak out! If your sponsor tells you “what’s your part in it. Get a new sponsor. Download our pamphlet and pass it out everywhere. Contact us and I will mail them to you.

Hold Make AA Safer Workshops in your area. We can provide a great format or create your own.

Call New York General Service Office (212) 870-3145 and demand they address this serious issue. AA is not above the law and Judges and Lawyers need to know that mixing criminals in with innocent AA members is lethal. A flurry of calls will certainly get their attention. Addressing these issues at every level is vital.

Attend only stagg meetings and put a safety statement at the beginning of your meeting.

Always call and go to the police for every incident. Any butts grabbed, rubbing, sexual overtones. Just go to the police. Even if it’s not a crime file a police report especially for sexually battery which is unwanted touching.

If you are raped/date raped go to the police or local rape center. If you are unsupported in your meeting leave that meeting and contact us here. We will support you and help you go to the police in your area.

The unsuspecting AA culture does not know that serious violent criminals are getting plea bargains that include ordering them to AA/NA meetings. Hence putting the twenty something female at risk. Tell your home group about this site and what they can do to make change.

We can all stop hugging each other like AA members can be trusted. Most members might be okay but many are not and many are now sex offenders who are not interested even in sobriety. Many, many violent sex crimes are being reported here to me. They need to be equally reported to the authorities and each group needs to be made responsible.

Any person, group, district and even an area that has insurance, AA corporation can be sued if no action is taken by this Community, Fellowship etc. All of the above have been warned of this criminal behavior going on, and nothing is being done in NY General Service Office and it’s still the status quo of talk and more talk.

Know your rights. Call a lawyer. A sponsor really knows very little about anything. Stop making them your God. They are not God.

  1. AA has no authority over, nor liability for the behavior or opinions expressed by anyone or group of people who call themselves an AA member or an AA group. Any AA group has no authority over, nor liability for the behavior or opinions expressed by any individual who calls themselves an AA member or anyone else who presents themselves at an AA meeting. The individuals are autonomous unto themselves and responsible for themselves. It is all inclusive without any qualifying requirement or personal identification. Safety and security is the assumed sole responsibility of each individual.

  2. AA/NA and witness tampering

When you are in AA/NA you are often told that “What is said here stays here” and you are encouraged to maintain Anonymity of the people present in the room and not to repeat what they have said, the people saying it may be guilty of “Witness Tampering” and there are many State and Federal Laws prohibiting this. If the registered non-paid employees of an Intergroup that is Incorporated does this that Corporation may be liable for “Witness Tampering” especially if it is said in a room full of people who may be witnesses to a crime. They may be tampering with many witnesses and is illegal.

If you report any sexual or financial illegal activity from people that you meet at AA/NA, make sure you report to the police if you suspect “Witness Tampering” by anyone trying to cover it up in AA/NA. Keep track of the place, date and time in a notebook somewhere, so you can report it to the police.

Don’t let them hide behind Anonymity

    1. They think they are special cause they don’t drink anymore. I have got news for you. Yes you are accountable. You can and will be held accountable if you know crimes have happened and you do nothing and do not support the victim.

      1. Hi Lester- Yes AA is- In AA’s 12 Concepts they talk about how the AA General Service Board is responsible for the fellowship at large- maybe it’s time for you to freshen up on the Concepts.

AA was created in a time and in a way that makes AA appear as a special secret org, but its not! Its a 501c3- and its in America and every 501c3 has to follow the rules like The Boy Scouts and The Catholic Church. AA needs a Sexual harassment training and policy.

        Thank you for you input!

  3. Since predatory breeding and behavior that occurs in meetings and as a result of AA, has gone “unnoticed” and unchallenged by the press, the law, and AA members for this long – it enhances my already emphatic beleif that too many are brainwashed and/or corrupted!

No respectable corporation or organization, whether truly responsible (or not) for their subcultures would allow their name, ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS,to become tarnished by criminal activity.

AA corporate is aware of this and nothing is being done! They just don’t care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone in the program doesn’t want to use a warning pamphlet in a meeting then they also DO NOT CARE!

If they again say that they don’t want to scare newcomers than a perfectly legitimate response would be “They should be scared”.

    Peace, 🙂 Sally

You would not believe how many times I heard this. About as many as the stories of sexual harassment , 13 stepping, and now rape.

  4. You are spot on! People need to to call New York, and dont forget NA World Services in California. They have many problems as well because of the drugs involved.
Citizens have been threatened in Holly Hill Florida by Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous members.
They refuse to do anything about it.

So folks you are on your own when you go into a meeting. They like to look the other way because they dont want bad press.

    1. Safety First- This is just reprehensible. Something needs to be done. This silly approach that their 3rd traditions makes it so everybody can come is INSANE. WHen the traditions were written in the 1950’s AA screened their members. They loved George Burns and Ann Maragaret but Addicts, prostitutes were a no no. They forgot to rewrite them so Members could be safe.
